CV Crossfire 99G White

Crossfire White is a competitive soccer team for girls born between August 1, 1999 - July 31, 2000.  We play both Norcal and CCSL.  For CCSL, we play 10 games in the during the fall season.  For Norcal, we play 6 games, followed by a series of playoffs.  In addition to these games, we typically play about one tournament a month

Crossfire White is a development team for the Crossfire 99G club which includes our sister team Crossfire Red. The club system provides a great deal of flexibility for player development and some of our stronger players have played often with our sister team, Crossfire Red over the past year and some of their players have returned the favor, providing them with opportunities for extra playing time and skill practice opportunities.  We also often work with Crossfire Red on fundraising, sharing CVYSL assigned club tasks such as field lining, and many of our social activities such as holiday parties are held together with the other Crossfire teams.

Similar to Crossfire Red, we work and play hard.  We practice three times a week, for two hours each practice and take only 2-3 weeks off during the summer and during the winter holidays respectively. Players are expected to attend at least 80% of all practices.  Goal keeper training is an additional hour per week and is open to all players on the team.  We believe in cross training with other sports and a number of our players  participate in other sports such as cross country, dance, basketball, and futsal, so long as it does not conflict excessively with the soccer schedule.  Some are also active in artistic and academic pursuits such as music, the Math Olympics, and the Tech Challenge.  Effort should be made to minimize any conflicts, however, especially with tournaments or league games.

This was a rebuilding year for Crossfire White since 5 of our players from 2009 were moved up to Crossfire Red in January of 2010.  Even though we started with a much less experienced team, we have had a lot of fun and have been a steadily improving team throughout the year.  Some of the highlights this fall were:

  • Moved up over 20 places in the Norcal Seeding from the start of the fall season to finish in the top tier of our bracket.
  • Third place finish at the Mustang Devil Mountain Tournament
  • First place finish at the Palo Alto Tall Trees Tournament in the Silver bracket

We are excited about our progress and look forward to an even stronger year in 2011!  We have added several new players and began weekly 11v11 scrimmages at the beginning of February.  Our first tournament was the Juventus Il Tourneo dei Presidenti.   Our next tournaments will be the District II Spring Cup and the Magic Cup III.

We are always open to meeting new players!!  Crossfire Club is holding tryouts for our Fall season on June 11-12.   If you are interested in trying out or just learning more about our team, a good way is to join us at practice.  If interested, please contact our coach, Vinko Puljiz or one of our co-team managers, Rebecca Huang, or Glenna Mayo.
