Mission Statement

We are a girl’s soccer team striving to be one of the top teams in District II.  We are a fun team to play with and a challenging team to play against.  We’re part of Central (Santa Clara) Valley Youth Soccer League located in central San Jose, California.  Revolution are affiliated with Central Santa Clara Valley Soccer, CYSA-North, and US Club Soccer.  All of our players are born after July 31, 1994

Our goal is the development of the player in every facet of the game.   The core belief of the coaching staff is that players will develop to their full potential only if they (1) love the game, (2) are well disciplined, (3) are able to think creatively and independently on the field, and (4) are technically proficient.  These traits must come from within the player.  Our job is to provide the structure in which the player will flourish.  Ultimately, we strive to provide the foundation from which a talented player will be able to realize any goal or ambition that she may set for herself.

Team Goals

The goal of the Revolution in the coming year is to be one of the top U-14 girls’ team in District II. Achieving that goal will require a great deal of work and commitment (see expectations & commitment below) and playing throughout the season at an accelerated level.

Of course, we believe that the specific soccer-related goal takes place within the context of the larger goals for the team: that is, development of the individual player and creation of an environment which enriches the social, emotional, and physical aspects of a player’s day-to-day life.  There is no question that sport at a high level is rigorous and demanding.  Nevertheless, the benefits imparted are proportional to the effort and discipline required.  For example, it is generally agreed that girls who participate in competitive athletics have higher self-esteem, lower rates of depression etc., and tend to perform better academically.  Moreover, we believe that hard training and competitive play are not exclusive to having fun.  Athletes of all ages, be they boys or girls, enjoy competition; they like to win; and they like to be known as very good at what they do.  We offer players the opportunity to develop into elite athletes, become prepared for the Olympic Development Program and obtain a competitive advantage as high school and college approach.

Season

We are a year ‘round team.  We break for 3 weeks  after State Cup, take 3 weeks off from June 2 to June 24.  The “season” is from July to the end of State Cup.  During these months soccer should have priority over other sports.

Training

The Revolution practice 3 times a week for 2 hours per session. During short daylight hours we will have one practice on Saturday and 2 days after school; at other times, practice will be during the week.  In addition, or in place of practice, we will scrimmage teams.

Players are expected to attend a minimum of 75% of practices.

Other Sports

Other sports are encouraged.  Efforts should be made to avoid conflict with soccer.  In the event a conflict is unavoidable, it should be worked out on a case by case basis with the coach, however, soccer should take priority for tournaments, and league play.

Playing Time

There is no guarantee of a minimum amount of playing time.  Stronger players and starting defenders are like to get the most time on the field.  Everybody on the roster is capable of becoming the “stronger” player who gets more time in games.

Fees

$75/month (does not include registation, tournament fees, uniform, traveling expenses)
