Parents:
Welcome to Central Santa Clara Youth Soccer League Recreational Division. CVYSL promotes a family friendly league that organizes teams using the following criteria.
- Requested Friends
- Requested Coach
- School attended
Coaches are not allowed to select players, and the age group coordinators will try their best to meet your requests.
This year we will manage our league’s growth in order to ensure your child gets the best experience possible. With limited field space, we will be limiting registration by age groups to ensure we have sufficient field space for practices and games. Our age group maximums are not lower than last year’s registration count, however, we will place a cap on our growth over last year’s numbers. With this we encourage you to register early! Once an age group has reached its limit, we will close walk in registration, and only continue online registration on a wait list basis. Players will also be wait listed if there are insufficient coaches and/or registrants to form a team in their age/gender division.
2008 Fall registration begins on May 1st. After May 31 there will be a late fee of $25 per player. Registration will not be accepted after June 30, 2008.
Fees:
- $120 for first child in Division 4 (recreational) plus $20 raffle ticket buy-in per family
- $110 for each additional sibling playing Division 4 recreational soccer.
- $25 late fee per child assessed after May 31st
Refunds:
- A full refund will be given only if a child cannot be placed on a team
- Prior to May 31st: Full refund less $10 per player administrative fee.
- June 1st - June 31st: Full refund less $25 per player administrative fee.
- July 1st - first game: Full refund less $50 per player administration fee
- After first game: No refunds
- Late fees and raffle ticket buy-in are not refundable
Age Groups:
- Under 6 - Born after July 31, 2002
- Under 7 - Born after July 31, 2001
- Under 8 - Born after July 31, 2000
- Under 9 - Born after July 31, 1999
- Under 10 - Born after July 31, 1998
- Under 12 - Born after July 31, 1996
- Under 14 - Born after July 31, 1994
- Under 16 - Born after July 31, 1992
- Under 18 - Born after July 31, 1990
We need Coaches:
We need coaches, especially in the Under 6 age group. Every year our age group coordinators must put on their sales cap and encourage parents to step up and coach. If you have never played soccer, don’t worry. A simple understanding of gravity, and what happens when you kick a ball is sufficient to coach. The league will support you with volunteer mentor coaches from our competitive groups who can come out to a few practices and help you organize and run a practice. We also have an online practice guide with detailed instruction per age group, and countless drills and activities to keep your players focused on you and not the moth fluttering around in the grass. So step up and volunteer to be a coach in CVYSL.
Marshals: (New Requirement for 2008 "Please Read")
Teams will be assigned Marshal duties during the season. This may be one day on a weekend where the team parents will be responsible for marshaling an assigned field. A Marshal kit will be provided with instructions, material, and vest . More instruction will be provided to each coach, and the team PCA Culture Keeper. In addition, one parent from each team must attend a PCA Culture Keeper Workshop. These workshops will be held in August. More information to follow on the responsibilities of the Team Culture Keeper and Team Marshaling assignments.
Volunteers:
Volunteers are important to CVYSL success. Please consider giving some of your time so that we can continue to provide a great environment for your children. CVYSL is requesting that every family volunteer 3 hours. Families will have the opportunity to sign up for volunteer positions during the online registration process.

Raffle Tickets:
This year all families participating in the recreational soccer program will be required to sell or purchase ten raffle tickets at a cost of $2 per ticket. The raffle will be held during Opening Day and will have a top prize of $ 1,000 cash. Tickets will be distributed to each family through the older siblings coach and must be returned by September 6 to be entered into the raffle. Proceeds from the raffle will be used to purchase league equipment. If you have any questions concerning the raffle, please contact the raffle coordinator at raffle@cvysl.org.
League Merchandise:
This year CVYSL will be offering practice T-shirts and sweatshirts, prices and logo below. You will be able to order them through online registration. Apparel will be handed out with uniforms.

On-Line registration.
We encourage everyone to register online, as this makes it easier for our volunteers, and yourself, by allowing registration from the convenience of your home, or office. If your child played in CVYSL in Fall 2007, then you will not have to submitt proof of birth. If your child did not play in CVYSL in Fall 2007, then you must submit proof of birth to complete your registration. This must be a government issued document: a passport or birth certificate. Hospital issued documents and baptismal certificates are not acceptable!! Instruction will be provided during your registration process.
On-line registration starts May 1st and ends when age groups are full or June 30th, 2008, whichever comes first.
Walk-in registration.
Although we prefer you register via our online registration process, we have kept one walk- in registration date for those who prefer to meet our friendly volunteers in person. The date for walk in registration is

We will have 1601 forms for you to complete, or you can print out forms from our website to complete at home and expedite your registration process. Bring the following to walk-in registration: (2-copies of 1601 form, downloadable from our website), birth certificate (if your child did not play in CVYSL in Fall 2007), and a check or money order made out to "CVYSL", or cash.
