Tournament Rules

The Tournament will be played in accordance with FIFA rules as modified by CYSA except for the following changes and additions:

  1. PROTESTS: All games are considered final. No protests will be allowed. Any complaints or questions are to be directed to the Tournament Director or Field Marshall.

  1. REGISTRATION AND CREDENTIALS: All teams must be checked in at the mandatory registration, held the Friday evening preceding the first day of play. At the mandatory registration, the following credentials must be provided: Goldenrod copy of the team roster with league and district registrars’ signatures, laminated signed players passes for all players and coaches, signed medical releases with original parent signatures, and any add, release, guest player or transfer forms that are applicable. .

  1. LENGTH OF GAMES: U9 & U10 Two 25 minute halves

If the score is tied at the end of the second half, one five minute overtime period will be played. If a tie exists after the overtime period then, game will remain tied; ie. No shoot out will be taken.

4. STANDINGS: In accordance with CYSA Tournament Manual;, no official standings will be

kept during the tournament.

  1. TIE BREAKERS: No tie breaker if game remains tied after one five minute overtime period.

  1. SUBSTITUTIONS: Unlimited substitution with referee consent per the following: prior

to a throw in for your team, prior to a goal kick for either team, after a goal is scored by either

team, between halves, and when play is stopped for an injury to either team. Limited

Substitution - A player receiving a caution (yellow card) may be substituted for at the time the

caution is issued. The player may re-enter the game at the next available unlimited substitution

opportunity for his/her team.

  1. EJECTIONS: If a player or Coach is ejected (Red Card) from a game, that player or Coach shall be suspended from the next games of his or her teams. All ejections will be reviewed by the tournament committee and reported to CYSA. Depending upon the infraction, additional penalties may be imposed. See above reference.

  1. SPORTSMANSHIP: Good sportsmanship will be expected at all times. Coaches are

responsible for the conduct of their players and spectators.

  1. COACHING: Coaching is permitted only from the team bench area (ten yards on either side of the midfield line and no closer than one yard from the touchline) on your side of the field. No coaching by spectators is allowed nor is referee attire allowed while coaching.

  1. GAME START: All games will start within five minutes of the scheduled time. If a team has not taken the field with a minimum of seven players within the five-minute grace period, the game will be forfeited to the team (with at least seven players) in attendance. If neither team takes the field, no points will be awarded for either team.

  1. INJURY TIME: Delays of the game due to injury will result in appropriate time being added to the game time, based upon the judgment of the referee. However, all preliminary games will be terminated at five minutes prior to the scheduled start of the next game.

  1. HOME TEAM: The team listed first on the schedule is the Home Team. If there should be a conflict in team colors, the Home Team will change. The Home Team is responsible for supplying the game ball. The Home Team will occupy the east or south side of the field (depending upon the orientation of the field).

  1. ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES: Possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages is expressly prohibited at all field areas. Any players, coaches, parents or spectators found violating this rule will be asked to leave the tournament, and will cause their team to forfeit.

  1. PLAYER EQUIPMENT: Players wearing casts, air splints or metal splints are not eligible to play. All players must wear shin guards. Players may not wear watches or jewelry that may harm them or others.

  1. LIABILITY: All participants are assumed to be bonafide members of CYSA which provide them with current personal injury and liability protection. The tournament organizers will endeavor to make the tournament as safe as possible. However, they assume no liability for injury to any spectator or participants.

  1. INCLEMENT WEATHER: Games may be shortened or canceled due to increment weather

  1. RULES NOT COVERED: The Tournament Coordinator will review any problem that is not specifically covered and reserves the right to establish policy as deemed necessary. The decisions of the committee will be final and there will be no appeals.

18. REFEREE: One referee per game, will be furnished by CVYSL. A volunteer linesperson will

be used for each game. Each team will furnish one volunteer per game.

  1. NO DOGS ALLOWED: Dogs will not be allowed on field site premises during the tournament. Owners will be asked to remove the animal from the site. Failure to comply may result in a team forfeiting a game.

20. TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE: The Tournament Committee shall consist of: the

Tournament Director, Referee Coordinator and designated CVYSL board member(s).

  1. PARTICIPATION AWARD: Each player and coach will receive a commemorative participation pin, after completion of the last game on Sunday.

  1. PLAYERS ON ONE SIDE/PARENTS ON THE OTHER: Both teams will be lined up on one

(same) side of the field. Spectators (parents, friends, etc..) will be positioned on the opposite

side of the field. Field signs will be posted.
