Recreational Youth Soccer San Jose - CVSJ operates as a premier youth soccer league in San Jose, offering age-appropriate team sizes for different match formats. In 4v4 games, teams consist of no more than 8 players, maximizing playing time and involvement. For 7v7 matches, the limit is 11 players, striking the perfect balance between competition and participation. Additionally, in 9v9 games, teams can have up to 13 players, providing a dynamic soccer experience.

Age of the players is based on their age as of December 31, 2023. Divisions are grouped by birth year, as follows:
U5 – 2019 (co-ed)
U6 – 2018 (co-ed)
U7 – 2017
U8 – 2016
U9 – 2015
U10 – 2014
U11/U12 – 2013 and 2012
U13/U14 – 2011 and 2010
Note that odd years (U5, U7 and U9) may be combined with the next year up based on registration numbers.

U7-U10 (7v7) - $230
U11-U12 (9v9) - $250
U13-U14 (11v11) - $290
Refunds will only be issued if your child cannot be placed on a team. Refund requests after January 31, 2024 will be subjected to a $50 fee and board approval.

Teams will play a 9-game season, with games being held on Saturdays, and sometimes on Sundays due to field availability. Games will begin the first weekend after Labor Day weekend (September 9) and will be completed the first weekend of November (when daylight savings ends). We will play both weekends of SJUSD's Fall Break. We will do our best to reschedule missed games due to forces of nature (eg. rain or smoke), fields permitting.
Practice days/times are assigned to coaches and will begin in mid August. The number of practices will vary, and generally increase with the age of the child. Parents cannot request practice days; coaches determine when the team practices.
Games and practices are generally held at local schools/parks in the Cambrian and Willow Glen neighborhoods of San Jose.

You may make 1 coach and 1 friend request; NO REQUESTS ARE GUARANTEED. No refund will be given if your child is not placed on the team you desired, NO EXCEPTIONS. Note that friend requests must be the same as the player's age/gender division; we do not allow rec players to play up or down.

A copy of your child’s passport or birth certificate (Certificate of Vital Record issued by the county recorder) to verify the child’s age must be provided with registration.
